About

Jessica M. Aguilar

I am an evolutionary ecologist interested in understanding the impacts of a plant diet on insects and their microbiomes. I am currently an NSF Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Fukami Lab at Stanford studying the evolutionary dynamics of the bacteria and phage in the gut of the coffee berry borer beetle, especially in response to the high amounts of caffeine present in their diet. I am also passionate about creating welcoming, inclusive academic environments where people can thrive.
